Description
Travel back in time with this sweet vintage alto saxophone. Made by Buescher in about 1922 in Elkhart, Indiana, it's a Buescher True-Tone. It's been stenciledELLSASSER/Cleveland, O
, presumably for the Ellsasser music store in Cleveland. The floral engraving is excellent .
The serial number is 112,907. It is marked as a low pitch instrument, which is the modern pitch.
Cosmetically, it has some ordinary age and play
wear
, but looks very fine. I don't see any dents on it, but it probably
has
some scuffs and whatnot. Silver satin finish. It looks like a gold washed bell to me. It has all its pads, but they are very old. Unmarked mouthpiece, ligature, cap, and lyre. The neck cork is new.
The case works well, but the handle isn't connected.
The
handle is included though. All the case hinges and latches work.
It's an
interesting
old saxophone. It seems to be in
playing
condition, but would likely benefit from new pads.
