    Description

Up for sale here is a Martin committee II “lion & crown” alto saxophone. The serial is #135260 dating it to 1939. Neck and body have matching serial numbers. Engravings are very nice. The Comm II’s are just about the prettiest alto that Martin designed. The feel, the design, and the keyguards are unique from any other Martin series. Even the sliding thumb rest is different from the style that shows up on the Comm III’s and Magna models. You can probably tell I dig them.
It’s got the dark honey lacquer against nickel keys that you look for in a nice Comm II. The lacquer is original and is pretty solid throughout. There are spots of lacquer loss like near the A in Martin on the bell and back by the thumb rest and serial number. This is typical on an original lacquer horn from ‘39.
This horn has the original Martin tenon plug where the neck connects to the body. The pads are not new but are in nice shape and have a ton of life left in them. Flat metal resonators throughout.
This horn plays just fine and is ready to go 👍 Also comes with older red Protec alto case. Color is faded but case, pockets, and zippers are all fine. No other accessories are included in this auction. Please ask any questions you might have prior to bidding.
