Vint. 1923 C.G. Conn New Wonder I Silver Alto Saxophone Ser #122870 Plays Well!.Up for sale is a great vintage horn! A buddy got this for me knowing I was into music but I’m a brass player so I don’t have much use for it. Thought I’d learn but just don’t have the time. I had a friend who is a professional saxophone player play on it to tell me how it plays. He said it played great (sounded great to me) from top to bottom. The pads seem to be in good shape with metal resonators and the body has almost no dents or dings (I couldn’t find any). As you can see in pictures it could use a polish to give back some shine but it looks to me like there is probably 90% or better of the silver finish. It does have a gold wash bell and that looks to have the majority of its finish in tact as well.
The neck is original and the micro tuner works without any issue. The case is original and has a couple of older style neck straps included in it. Also included is the original metal neck plug. This horn has split bell keys and rolled tone holes as well as its mother of pearl rollers and wire key guards.
Honestly, this horn makes me wish I was a sax player. It’s in beautiful shape especially considering it’s 99 years old and on its way to 100! I know it’s true across the board, the old saying “they don’t make them like they used to” and it certainly applies here. Don’t miss out on this great vintage saxophone!
