    Description

1939 Vintage GEO. M. BUNDY Tenor Sax w/Vintage Versailles Mpc. Serial #54036 (sax).
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and also the ear. This horn has seen many gigs in its time, probably because of the smooth tone. It has been cleaned and adjusted, and the pads, felts, and corking have been replaced where needed. The other pads are old and will probably need replacing in the future. The springs function great, with quick response. Research indicates that this is most likely a Pan American stencil from the 30's. The engraving on the bell reads: Geo.M.Bundy, Elkhart, Ind., USA, Sponsored by Selmer. "Reg. US Pat.Off", that's after the Geo.M.Bundy, looks to me to have been stamped at a later date. On the bottom back of the horn it reads: 46M, Pat.Appd.For, T, 54036, and L (Low pitch). Definitely an interesting horn. Cosmetically, the sax shows years of lacquer wear, scuffing, scratches, and mild dings, but no major dents (see pictures). The bow looks exceptionally good. The bottom left of the sax, where the "lucky" penny is, has some kind of brass plug - maybe used for a microphone; your guess is as good as mine. The Versailles mouthpiece is in very good condition and is stamped "France"; it is included with a vintage ligature, cap, and Rico Plasticover reed. Also included are a new microfiber cloth, a vintage "Micro" neckstrap, and an old but sturdy Bundy case.
