Vintage/Antique Red Cherry Amber Faturan Bakelite Catalin Prayer Beads Tasbih 33+1 / 88.4 Grams
These are vintage/antique Ottoman Faturan bakelite/catalin Islamic prayer beads or Tasbih. There are 33 barrel shaped beads measuring approx. 1.35 cm long x 1.48 cm wide, 1 imame measuring approx. 3.4 cm long x 1.4 cm, 2 silver tone metal spacers (not tested). The tassel is approx 8 cm long and made of silver tone metal too (not tested).The total weight is 88.4 grams on my scale. The beads are strung on a red silk thread.
The beads have a beautiful deep red cherry amber color and are slightly marbled. They have a nice transparency against a strong light (see pictures).
These beads are in very good vintage condition with some wear and imperfections consistent with their age. The beads have been recently restrung but the silk cord is a little loose. Please note that the silver tone tassel is missing one of its small round medal (see picture).
These are authentic old bakelite/catalin beads that test positive for bakelite with Simichrome and hot water test.
